-
Are these doors made of solid wood?
Valusso Design doors may come with 3 types of core depending on the model, which are:
- Solid wood core (natural hardwood filling)
- Solid core (MDF)
- Honeycomb core (filling is honey comb cells, which grant additional lightness to the door, thus protecting the hinges from extra load and still retaining high noise reduction and thermal insulation qualities)
We use high quality solid pine in production of our frames which makes them rigid and durable enough to hold a heavy 8’ solid core door slab. The width of the frame is 1 ½’’. It undergoes several drying processes in special heating cameras which keeps the wood humidity level within 8%. The frame thickness of Valusso Design is 1 9/16’’.
-
What type of glass is used on the glazed interior doors?
Depending on the door design we use different types of glass.
Our french doors feature frosted tempered glass. All others glazed doors have milky frosted glass inserts 1/6’’ – 1/4’’ thick.
-
What is a rough opening?
Rough opening is the structurally-framed opening in the wall that receives the door.
For reference,
Standard US interior door widths range from 24"-36" (finished opening).
The difference between a rough opening and a finished opening is usually 2-3 inches.
One of the fundamental elements here is a wall stud. Studs are traditionally made of wood, usually 2"×4" or 2"×6" dimensional lumber and typically placed 16 inches (406 mm) from each other's center, but sometimes at 12 inches (305 mm) or 24 inches (610 mm).
-
How do I measure a rough opening?
See the picture below in order to learn how to accurately measure the size of the rough opening
Step 1: measure the width between the studs of the doorway three times and record the smallest of the three measurements
Step 2: measure the height on both sides and record the smallest measurement
First, measure the width between the studs of the doorway three times and record the smallest of the three measurements.
Second, measure the height on both sides and record the smallest measurement.

How to determine a door swing direction?
IF YOU ARE REPLACING AN EXISTING INTERIOR DOOR:
To determine the door swing direction, you should stand outside the room and open the door. Stand in the position when the hinges are behind the back and decide with which hand you should open the door. If you use your right hand to open the door - the swing direction is Right Hand In-swing (RHI), in case you use your left hand to open the door - that would be Left Hand In-swing (LHI). Please keep in mind that Left Hand In-swing (RHI) is the same as Right Hand Out-swing (RHO). And Right Hand In-swing (LHI) is the same as Left Hand Out-swing (LHO).
IF YOU ARE INSTALLING A NEW DOOR AND JAMB IN A ROUGH OPENING:
Decide which side of the frame will have the door hinges. Stand in the position when the hinges are behind the back and decide which hand you would use to open the door. If you use your right hand to open the door - the swing direction is Right Hand In-swing (RHI), in case you use your left hand to open the door - that would be Left Hand In-swing (LHI)
